receipt of your despatch No. 56 of the

25th of January relating to the grant

of free medical treatment to the

families of Government Medical

Officers.

I am advised that in England

there is no general rule regarding

the grant of free treatment in

hospital in such cases, and The

rule by which doctors themselves are

not charged fees is very generally

adopted, although there are excep-

tions to it, as in the case of

specialists.

Of course, if doctors

choose to waive any fees normally

paid to them in respect of attendance

on the families of doctors, whether
