Take charge of Stock Ledgers and Card Indexes &c., and generally supervise the work of the Native Store Staff. Carry out continuous store surveys in conjunction with the Inspector of Stores as a check on behalf of Government against the Native Storekeepers. Assist in preparation of Indents, Stock and Consumption Returns. Examine all issue and receipt notes and endorse such as are properly executed. Report in conjunction with the Inspector of Stores on the shipment of Stores and local purchases. See that stocks are maintained at their proper levels. Such other duties as the Head of Department may direct. Should have received his training in the Stores Department of a Rail- way Company or large industrial concern and be thoroughly conversant with both the storekeeping and accounting branches of a Stores Department. Should have an exten- sive knowledge of the nomenclature and use of Engineering and Building stores and be familiar with manufacturers descriptions and methods of invoicing.
Candidates must be between the ages of 24 and 30, and perferably single.
2400 per annum rising by annual increments of £10 to £420 during the third year, and thereafter, in the event of the appointment being made permanent by further annual increments of £10 to a maximum of £550. The increases specified are dependent upon the proper perform- ance of his duties in the meantime. Half salary converted at $10.00 to one pound sterling will be paid during the voyage out. Half salary at the sterling rate will be paid during the voyage home on the satisfactory termination of the agreement.
