I have the honour to confirm my telegram of
the 24th February, accepting the offer of His Majesty's Government to provide £100,000 towards the cost of the Air Port at Kai Tak. A question on this subject was asked in the Legislative Council on the 23rd February by the
Honourable Mr. D. G. M. Bernard, as follows:-
"Will the Goverment state if the Imperial
Government is going to contribute financially towards
the cost of the aerodrome in Hong Kong and, if so, to
what extent?"
The acting Colonial Secretary replied as follows:-
"His Majesty's Goverment have allocated £100,000 from Imperial Funds towards the cost of the Hong Kong Aerodrome, £70,000 payable, if possible, this year and £50,000 on the satisfactory completion of the work."

Subsequently on the 15th March Sir Henry
Pollock in Legislative Council asked the following question:- "In connection with the answer given to the
Honourable Mr. Bernard at the last meeting of this Council to the effect that the Imperial Government was
contributing £100,000 towards the Kai Tak Aerodrome,
