layout of Kai Tak aerodrome, Hong Kong, and am to enclose, for
for the information of the Secretary of State for the Colonies,
a copy of a further communication from the Director of Public
Works, Hong Kong which has been forwarded to the Air Ministry
by Group Captain Robertson.

As the Council gather from paragraphs 4 and 5 of Mr.
Creasy's letter that the plans of the Hong Kong Government for
the development of the aerodrome may be more advanced than they
had supposed, it may be convenient at this stage to summarise
the position as it appears to this Department.
The aerodrome site has been acquired and reclamation
work is being carried out to meet the immediate requirements
of the Royal Air Force for a landing ground at Hong Kong and
with a view to the possibility of future development of the
site for both Royal Air Force and civil aviation requirements
as they arise.
The general plan of the site prepared in consultation
with Royal Air Force officers stationed at Hong Kong, which
was forwarded with Colonial Office letter of the 12th May 1927,
30044/27, is regarded by the Council as generally suitable.
As Mr. Amery is aware, the Council do not at present
propose to station any Royal Air Force units permanently at
Hong Kong. It may, therefore, be assumed that for some years
to come Royal Air Force requirements will, apart from such
