Enclosure No.

MEMORANDUM.

Conference on Aerodromes at

Government House on 10th October, 1928.

51

PRESENT :

His Excellency, the Officer Administering the

Government.

Mr. J. Dawson, of the Air Ministry.

The Commodore.

Colonel Wyatt, R.E.

The Honourable the Director of Public Works.

The Honourable the Colonial Secretary.

His Excellency referred to Mr. Dawson's

report (72) in part 2 of 2820/25, and recounted the

recommendations in detail with reference to the plan

attached to the report. After a full discussion it

out were not open to objection. As regards the

additional expense to be incurred in the acquisition

of new ground to the north of Kai Tak it was felt by

those present other than Mr. Dawson who expressed no

opinion on the matter that the question was primarily

one for the Imperial Government. Such acquisition

was not essential from the point of view of the

Colony and of the immediate future of Civil Aviation,

and if the additional area was required by the Air

Ministry the Colony would naturally look to it for

the expenditure to be incurred. Reference to the

Director of Public Works minutes on Mr. Dawson's

report showed that the total concerned was about

$250,000. The lay out as suggested

involved the

abandonment
