of

The result of Mr. Dawson's examination

the lay-out of the Aerodrome is a

recommendation that it should be further

enlarged and further expenditure incurred. The O.A.G. therefore proposes that the

Imperial Contribution to the Aerodrome

should be reconsidered. In any case he

makes it clear that the further expenditure

necessary and the inclusion of a piece of

land formerly reserved for the Hong Kong

Government must be matters for negotiation, but he further suggests that the Imperial Contribution should, apart from this, be

increased. The reason for this suggestion is that he understands that in fixing the Imperial Contribution, the Treasury had in

mind the expectation that the Hong Kong Government would receive any sums which might be received from the disposal of parts of the

reclaimed land not necessary for the Aerodrome, This was in fact the case (see enclosure to No.1 last paragraph but one) and

the receipts from this source were at one time estimated at £50,000: actually, however,

owing to the increased size of the Aerodrome

now contemplated there will be no surplus

land whatever, and the Hong Kong Government

will, therefore, receive nothing from this

source.
