figure had to be reduced to $170,000.00; and on the 27th

instant, I made an order authorising the sale of the s.s.

"Ling Nam" for $130,000.00 at which figure it is hoped a

purchaser will shortly be found for her.

12. As regards the future it is essential that steps

should be taken to discover what procedure should be adopted

with regard to cases like that of the s.s. "Ling Nem". The rules in the schedule to the Supreme Court (Adiralty

Procedure) Ordinance, 1896, contain no express provisions on

this particular subject, but rule 169 directs that "in all

other cases not provided for by these rules, de practice

of the Admiralty Division of the High Court of Justice of

England, shall be followed". I think it would be well that

a comunication should at once be sent to the Registry of

the Admiralty Division asking for the necessary information;

or, as I au shortly going on leave, I could approach the

proper Admiralty Division officers immediately on my arrival

in England.

13. I have the honour to inform you that Mr. Justice

Wood has read this letter and concurs in its terus.

I have, &c.,

(Sd.) H. C. Gollan,

Chief Justice.
