Enclosure No. 8.
Chief Justice' Chambers,
Supreme Court, Hong Kong,
27th January 1927.
176
Sir,
In continuation of my letter of 17th January,
1927; which acknowledged receipt of your Keno.No.1 in 1045/
1925, I have the honour to submit for Your Excellency's
consideration the following remarks with reference
(a) To the Final Report of the Committee appointed to
enquire into the accounts of the Supreme Court; and
(b) To the Interim Report of the Committee on the
subject of the seizure and upkeep of the s.s. "Ling
Nam".
2.
The Final Report deals with the manner in whi-
ch the officers of the Registry of the Supreme Court have
carried out their financial duties, and covers, in the main,
matters with which the Judges of the Supreme Court are not
directly concerned.
وت
But reference is made in the Report to the
practice followed in making payments into and out of Court
in conformity with rules, which, under s.4 of Ordinance No.5
of 1896, are to be made by the Chief Justice with the
concurrence of the Governor; and this subject is one,
therefore, which clearly concerns the Supreme Court.
His Excellency,
Sir Cecil Ülementi, K.U.M.G.,
&c.,
&c.,
&c.,
Governor.
