No suggestion was then made as to increasing the accounting staff. During the past twelve months we have strongly suggested to the Goverment the necessity

for an accountant for the Supreme Court.

as supplied by the Treasury.

Under the present system of accounting are there any books from which you could ascertain the sums now

standing to the credit of any action and forming part

of the Suitors Fund?

To do so you would have to write up Ledger

accounts.

Do you not regard it as essential that Ledger Accounts should be kept for the purposes of the Suitors Fund both in the Registry and in the Colonial Treasury?

The Treasury books would show the balance of the

Fund.

Is the Colonial Treasurer in a position to fulfil his obligations under the Suitors Fund Rules without

such Ledger Accounts?

In my opinion Ledger Accounts should be kept at the Treasury for individual distraint and Summary

Jurisdiction matters.

Do you consider that the existing method of filing Court records dealing with actions and distraints is adequate and proper for their safe custody and for rapid reference?

No. There does not seem to be any one officer in
