We should like to be clear as to whether you did for certain speak to Mr. Melbourne before the Company was employed. Mr. Melbourne has told us that he found the Company was conducting sales where the order had been addressed to Hughes & Hough.

I am sure that I saw Mr. Melbourne before the Company was employed at all. So far as I can remember Mr. Melbourne never spoke to me about the Company conducting any sale the order for which had been addressed to Hughes & Hough.

Did you hand over to Hughes & Hough the conduct of any auction in respect of which the order directed sale by Hughes & Hough?

I would not swear to this. So far as I

recollect the names were crossed out. I used to write

the forms sometimes and sometimes Mr. O'Sullivan and

Mr. Stainefield.

Not to my knowledge.

When the Company first conducted the auctions I attended and took the money myself at

Were the proceeds of sales by the Company

paid by cheques signed by Hodge?

Proceeds were paid at first to me in cash.

Afterwards by cheque signed by Wong Fung Sek, the Treasurer and Accountant of the Company. Hodge never signed any of the cheques.
