I meant to convey that the arrangement was made.on

behalf of the Court. At that time I had no idea that

the matter would hang on so long.

The

Mr. Hodge volunteered to do it. It was during

the strike when it was impossible to get credit.

Company was running the Empress Stores and he said they

would supply. He did not see Mr. Melbourne about it.

Was it arranged that supply should be made by

the Company or by Mr. Hodge?

By the Company. The whole arrangement was

with the Company.

Did the Solicitors for the plaintiffs in the

actions know of and concur in the arrangement?

I believe the Solicitors were aware of the

arrangement and had no objection. Bruttons were

acting for the Captain and owners and I know they were

aware and concurred.

That the Company should provide money for wages

for the Captain, Engineer and crew and food for them.

No arrangement was made about harbour dues.

Nothing was said about interest on money lent.

There would be a profit on the food supplied.

the Registrar?

So far as I know the Company sent the account

for food to the Captain. No accounts were sent to

me, or, to my knowledge, to the Registrar.
