Enclosure No. 3.
Supreme Court House,
Hong Long,
9th October, 1926.
36
Sir,
With reference to the shortage of $200. odd
as complained by the Government Auditors on the morning of the 6th ultimo, I remember that on the previous afternoon.
I had over a thousand dollars locked up in the strong room
and only paid same over to the Treasury on that very morning. Upon arrival at the Treasury I discovered that I had brought $200. odd too much as I did not separate the Government fund
from all others while I was in the office before I went.
I merely took the whole lot out from the strong room and made for the Treasury. When I subsequently got back to the office I was busying with the submission of all accounts to the
Auditors and thus overlooked in having the balance the amount complained of as being short -- surrendered to the
Auditors at that time. As regards the shortage of stamps
to the value of 24 cents, I am sorry to say I have lost them
Some way or other.
The Registrar,
Supreme Court,
Hong Kong.
Your obedient servant,
(Sd.) So Uet Tai.
