Sir,
Hongkong No. 32.
H.B.M.Consulate General.
Canton.
January 30th, 1928.
In my despatch No.2 of January 16th on the
subject of the report by the Sunning Piracy
Commission, I gave from memory the answers made
by Mr.N.S. Brown, the Hongkong manager of Messrs.
Butterfield & Swire, to the Commander-in-Chief's
questions regarding the attitude of the Company in
the matter of the resistance to be offered by their
ship's officers in cases of piracy.
2. I now have the honour to enclose a copy of a
letter from Mr.Brown confirming what he had previously
said, and giving more detailed information concerning the rewards received by the officers of the S.S."Sunning".
I have, etc.,
(Signed) J.F.Brenan.
Acting Consul-General.
His Majesty's Minister,
Peking.
