Hon. Colonial Secretary,
I forward herewith report from the Director of
Criminal Intelligence, re: pirate resort at Samun, and
request that this information may be forwarded to the
Canton Government as early as possible, and that they
may be pressed to despatch a gun-boat and authorize the
local authorities at Tai Pang, (A) and Nim Shan, (4)
to carry out the expedition suggested.
The Commodore should also be informed and
asked to co-operate, whether Canton asks for our
co-operation or not.
