Hon. Colonial Secretary,
I forward herewith report from the Director of
Criminal Intelligence, re: pirate resort at Sumun, and
request that this information may be forwarded to the
Canton Government as early as possible, and that they
may be pressed to despatch a gun-boat and authorize the
local authorities at Tai Pang (
) and Nim Shan
) to carry out the expedition suggested.
The Commodore should also be informed and
asked to co-operate, whether Canton asks for our co-
operation or not.
