Sir,

With reference to the telegram attached, from

His Majesty's Consul-General, Canton, copy of which was

sent to you on the 8th October, 1928, I am directed to

enquire whether it was found possible to establish co-

operation between British Men of War and the Chinese Gun

Boats mentioned.

2. I am also to request you to be good enough

to inform this Government the details of action taken by

the Naval Authorities as the result of the information

from the Police Department concerning the possibility of

a ship being pirated and taken to Hong Hoi Bay, just prior

to the "Anking" piracy in order that a reply may be sent

to the telegram from the Colonial Office of 24th October, a copy of which is attached.
