I am, etc., to ak. the receipt
of your letter of the 2nd of May, No.
2502/1928, on the subject of the Hong-
Kong Garrison.
It appears to Mr. Amery from the
letter from the Government of India,
enclosed in your letter, that they have
not quite understood the objection made
by the Governor of Hong Kong to the
employment of Indian troops in the
Colony. His point was that the troops
in Hong Kong serve
for
both
the defence of the Colony and
as a reserve for employment in
