In continuation of Army Department telegram No.1435-S, dated 23rd July 1928, to the Secretary of State, I am directed to say that it appears from the enclosure to your letter No.M- 3427/28, dated the 4th June 1928, that the last sentence of Army Department letter No.24902/1(G.S.-S.D.1), dated the 5th

In April 1928, has given rise to some mi suni er standing. expressing their willingness to retain the Indian infantry battalion and the Hong Kong Hule Corpa at Hong Kong for so long as they were required by His Majesty's Government, the Government of India never intended to imply that those units were to be employed at Hong Kong only and not elsewhere in China, as the War Office considered desirable.

I mm, Sir,

Your most obedient servant,

Sd/-A.F. L. Brayne,

Offg: Secretary to the Govt. of India.
