I have examined the accompanying Ordiname intituled an Ordinance
to amend further the Volunteer Ordinance, 1920, and I am of
opinion that the Ordinance is one which is not contrary to
the Governor's instructions.

The Ordinance makes a number of not very important amend-
-ments in the Volunteer Ordinance, 1920, Ordinance No.2 of
1920.

Section 2 of the Ordinance substitutes the term ##
Com-
-mandant" for the term "administrative commandant" throughout
the principal Ordinance and the regulations made thereunder.
The term "Commandant" is considered by the military authori t-
-ies to be the correct term.
4.
Section 3 of the Ordinance provides expressly for the
formation of a number of auxiliary units in the Hong Kong
Volunteer Defence Corps.
The units will be as follows :
(a) A Supplementary Reserve Company, to consist of men
who have attained the age of fifty years.
