The existing allocation of expenses
between the Admiralty abd Hong Kong is roughly
on the basis that the Admiralty are paying the
full cost of the Naval personnel and other
expenses should be shared equally The cost

of the Maval personnel is £6,955 and of the other
expenses £10,231, Hong Kong at present pays £100
a month for each launch, that is £3,600 a year
or considerably less than half the "other expenses".
The Admiralty view as expressed in their letter
of the 28th of November is that Hong Kong should
eventually pay all the other expenses and that
immediately its contribution should be increased
to £200 a month for each launch, or £7,200 a year.
It is useful to have this exact informa-
tion on the subject, but no present action on our
part is necessary as Hong Kong can doubtless be
trusted to object if they consider the new demands
excessive.
