During the summer 1986 the officers of the
Norwegian 8.3. "sandviken", of Bergen, were attacked by
pirates, travelling as passengers on the ship, and they
took over the somsand of the ship, which was brought
Bay and thoroughfully looted.
Bias
Om July 20th, last, the Norwegian 8.8. "solviken",
also of sergen, was captured by pirates, who in great
muaber had boarded the ship # Hongkong posing as
passengers. The captain was shot down and the second
officer wounded in the
Captain Jentoft died two days
later. The "zolviken” was taken to Biss day, where the
chief compradore and seven Chinese passengers were
kidnapped. Two boxes of gold bars and other valuables,
amounting to $50,000 were taken away by the robbers.
Following ships under chinese flag, but
commanded by a norwegian master, have been pirated during
the lat years:
"Mingnsien", omptain Torgersen, in June, 1924,
8.5. "Kwangise”, saptain Tollefsen, in July 1926,
3.5. "Hangan", saptain Eriksen, in December 1926.
In March last, the 5.5. "Pingfu” under Itali 16. 18.
flag, but commanded by a xorwegian master, Olaussen, was
robbed by bandits on the Yangtze River.
