Sir M. Lampson expressed the view that the matter
would really necessitate a discussion between Admirals.
Mr. Yoshizawa said that he could not of course say
at that time whether his Admiral would be instructed to dis-
cuss the matter or not.
The question of reporting to the Diplomatic Body was
then again discussed.
Sir M. Lampeon suggested that the Diplomatic Boây be
told that the Committee could as yet report no progress.
Monsieur Varé recommended that the question of a
report be postponed until someone asked for a report.
It was finally agreed that no formal report should
be made to the Diplomatic Body for the time being but that Mr.
Yoshizawa should explain the position verbally to Monsieur
Oudendijk who had in the beginning been responsible for the
appointment of the Committee.
Monsieur de Martel repeated that he would report
to his Government what had happened and would recommend that
in the absence of any strong objection France should join
later with Gt. Britain and Japan whether Italy decided to
in or not,
Mr. Yoshizawa enquired whether, before reporting to
Monsieur Oudendijk he should await the French Government's
Maswer.
Monsieur de Martel thought it better not to do s0
and Mr. Yoshizawa accordingly undertook to see Monsieur
Oudendijk on the following day and report the position to him.
