Suppression of Piraoy in Bias Bay.

I have received a letter from the 8th Route
Headquarters, on the subject of pirao, suppression, and
stating, with reference to the thanks which have been
tendered to them by the British for the action which
they have taken, that it la their duty to suppress piracy
in the Bias Bay area, and that both the Haval and military
forces in that neighbourhood Lave been made responsible
for this, and the Eastern Rehabilitation Commissioner
and the Commander-in-Chief both instructed to carry out the
necessary measure to olean up the area,
I have also received a letter from the Admiralty,
stating that in accordance with original instructions, for the
suppression of piracy in Bias Bay a company of troops and two
gunboats the "Min Sheng" and the "Hu Shan" were despatched
there on 7th July, and arrived to remain permanently. A coaling
station had been opened, and wireless telegraphy installed for
their use, Piracy was to be abolished in the interests of
Chinese and foreign travellers,
