Sir,

I am directed by Lord Cushendun to refer to Sir

Miles Lampson's despatch of the 1st August on the subject

of the protection of Anglo-Chinese in China, copy of

which was enclosed in the letter from this department

F 5348/112/10 of the 31st October, and to enquire whether

Mr. Secretary Amery concurs in the terms of the annexed

draft of the instructions which it is proposed to send to

Sir Miles Lampson.

2. Copies of the despatch under reference were sent

direct from Peking to Singapore and Hongkong. If Mr.

Amery should desire to obtain the prior concurrence of

the Governors of those Colonies Lord Cushend un hopes

that it may be possible to consult them by telegraph.
