AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE INSTALLATION FOR HONGKONG.
From information which we have received, we anticipate
developments in connection with the supply of Automatic Tele-
phone Exchanges for Hong Kong and Kowloon which we think will
be prejudicial to British interests. As we have a direct
interest in this matter, we should be grateful to receive your
advice and if possible your assistance, and we should be glad
if you would permit one of our representatives to have an
interview with Mr. W. D. Ellis, C.M.G., of the Far Eastern
Department, to enable him to explain the situation in more
detail.
As we understand that a decision may be arrived at at
any moment, we beg to suggest that the appointment be made as
early as you can make it convenient.
