Patrol of West River by Armed Launches.
A meeting was held at Government House on
Friday noming November, 19th.
PRESENT.

The question of Patrol of the west Hiver and
Canton Delta by three armed launches was considered.
It was unanimously agreed that in the interests of British Trade it was essential, as an anti-piracy measure to continue this patrol.
It was also agreed that from the end of the
present arrangement for hire of the three armed launches
"Faulkner", "Onslaught" and "Nessus", hich is in March next for two and April next for the third, a fair arrangement would be that the ong Kong Government should make a contribution of 100 a month for each of the three vessels for a period of at least one year, the balance of the expenditure in connection with the patrol being torne by the Admiralty: also that in the
case of total loss of any of these vessels the volonial lovernment should agree to hear half the loss which is now fixed at $50,000 for the "Faulkner" and "Onslaught'
