14. Firegrate.

The firegrate is to be of the Rocking type

operated by a steam cylinder as well as by a hand lever

from the footplate, and is to be similar in design to

that shown on Drgs.Nos.2.4472/42 to 47, inclusive, Regn.

No. 251/1, modified as required to suit the grate area.

15. Ashpan. The ashpan arrangement is to be similar to that

shown on Drgs.Nos.Z.4472/40,41 and 42, Reqn.No.251/1.

It is to be fitted with front and back damper doors and

sliding bottom doors, all operated by rods from the

footplate.

16. Boiler Clothing. The boiler barrel, dome, firebox, and

firebox back are to be covered with asbestos mattresses

of the "Limpet" brand manufactured by Messrs. J.W.Roberts

Ltd., Leeds, or other approved maker, and similar to

those shown on Drg.No.Z. 4472/53, Reqn.No.251/1. The

asbestos mattresses are to be in accordance with the

Crown Agents' Specification No. 100.

Clothing sheets of smooth steel, No.14 W.G. with the

usual crinoline hoops and bars and secured in position

by belts, similar to that shown on Drgs.Nos.Z. 4472/49

& 50, Regn. No.251/1 for the arrangement, and Drg.Nos. Z.

4472/51 & 52, Reqn.No. 251/1 for the details, are to be

fitted. Longitudinal joints along the firebox sides

above the centre line, and also a transverse joint along

the firebox back at the same level, with vertical joints

in the centre of the back-plate are to be provided so

that the clothing sheets can be easily removed to give

access to the firebox stays. Where washout plugs come

on the firebox back pockets to the clothing are to be

provided.

17. Smokebox.

The smokebox is to be similar in design and

detail to that shown on Drgs. Nos. 2.4472/31 and 32,

Regn. No. 251/1.
