Remarks
In water tanks in water-tight tins constructed for dumping overboard. Information received that the ship was specially put on Macau run during the Strike for the purpose of smuggling opium, as supplies from Kwong Chow Wan and West River had been cut off.
Donkey boiler, which had been half emptied of water. Smugglers had apparently got to know that this boiler would not be used in Hong Kong on that voyage, contrary to the usual practice.
In life raft which had been cut open and rendered useless.

which In false partition behind main bulkhead, from a plate had been removed and made into a door. Cargo of firewood belonging to the ship's owners had been specially stowed to give access to the door. A secret door had also been inade in the floor of the engineers' store room to give secret access. Information received that the owner had been bringing up opium regularly from Kwong Chow Wan at a fixed rate. One of the owners usual- ly travelled as compradore on the ship.
