With reference to your letter of the 23rd ultimo (30209/27) relative to the proposed amendment

of the Hongkong Chinese Extradition Ordinance to

enable fugitive offenders to be extradited from

Hongkong to Canton or elsewhere in China, I am

directed by Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain to

inform you that His Majesty's Minister at Peking has

been asked to furnish his observations on the suggestion

made in the second paragraph of your letter and to

transmit to you a copy of the telegram which has been

addressed to Sir Miles Lampson for this purpose.
