With reference to my predecessor's
confidential despatch dated 14th May, 1924, transmitting
a petition for an increase of salary from Mr. R.A.D.
Forrest, cadet Officer, who was appointed under the
Reconstruction Scheme of Selection, and to ur. Thomas'
despatch confidential (2) dated 11th July, 1924, in
reply, I have the honour to inform you that an application
has been received from Mr. Forrest for a reconsideration
of the question of the salary of Ex-war Cadets in the
service of this Government.

The names and ages on appointment of such
Cadets are given in paragraph 2 of my predecessor's
confidential despatch dated 23rd May, 1921, and his
recommendations in respect of salary, contained in para- graph 3 thereof, were approved by lar. Churchill in his
confidential despatch dated 23rd August, 1921.

The arrangement there in approved has
remained in force except in the case of Mr. Nihill, who
in view of his general work was granted as from 1st
January, 1924, the equivalent of an additional year's
seniority.
