Study Leave.

An officer who, with the consent of Government,

undertakes a course of study while on leave, may be granted

additional leave according to the following rules.

(1) Where the benefit of the study will, in the opinion of the Governor, accrue primarily to the public service,

additional vacation leave on full pay equivalent to the

period spent in study may be granted.

An officer who is granted such leave may be allowed

a refund from Government of all fees and reasonable

expenses connected with the course.

(2)

Where the benefit of the study will, in the opinion

of the Governor accrue to the officer's own prospects and

to the public service in equal proportions, additional vacation leave on full pay, equivalent to half the period

spent in study may be granted.

An officer who is granted such leave may be allowed a refund from Government of such portion of the fees and reasonable expenses of the course as the Governor may deem

proper.

(3)

Where the benefit of the study will, in the opinion of the Governor accrue primarily to the officer's prospects, the officer may be recommended to the Secretary of State under General Order 135 for such additional half

pay leave not exceeding 6 months as may be required to

enable him to complete the course. He will receive no

assistance towards the cost and expenses of the course.

(4) Leave granted under these rules will not be reckoned
