With reference to the letter from this
Department of the 8th June on the question of
amending the law in the Straits Settlements and
the Federated Malay States, so as to provide wider
powers for the banishment of political or revolu-
tionary agitatore, I am directed by Mr. Secretary
be laid before
Fr.H.0.15.6.27 Amery to transmit to you, to
Secretary Sir Austen Chamberlain the accompanying
copy of a letter from the Home Office, suggesting
that the object aimed at might be achieved by
amendment of the law so as to correspond with the
wording adopted in the Imperial Aliens Order, 1920.
2: Mr. Amery concurs in this suggestion, and
he now considers it umecessary to refer the
question to an Interdepartmental Conference, as
