With reference to your letter of the 24th ultimo,
it is not easy to say how the present political
disturbances in the Far East will react on recruitment for
Hong Kong, but to judge by previous experience we should
expect candidates with better qualifications than
Miss Barth and Miss Ralls to be forthcoming in this
country. These ladies both possess the necessary
qualifications, however, and I would suggest that they
might be interviewed at Malta and notes of the interviews
furnished to our Selection Committee.
Meanwhile we could
advertise all the posts and compare the best candidates,
far as possible, with these two ladies,
