With reference to my despatch No.507 of 22nd December, 1926, on the subject of the appointment of Assistant Mistresses for the Education Department, I have the honour to
forward a copy of an application from Miss W. A. Galbraith.
2.
Miss Galbraith's qualifications appear to be excellent. It appears also from her letter that in 1923, she
applied to you for an appointment to the Education Department
of this Colony and was regarded as an acceptable candidate. If that be the case, I recommend that she be appointed in the first instance on one year's probation, terminable at one month's notice, at a salary of $300 per mensem together with
a rent allowance of $50.00 a month, and if satisfactory that at the end of 12 months service, she be placed on a sterling salary of £320 per annum, and be required to enter into the
usual three years' agreement, to date from the date of her
first appointment.
3.
For the current year there are funds available
from salaries lapsing from unfilled posts, and for next year
provision is being made in the draft estimates.
4.
As it is desired that Miss Galbraith should
take up the appointment in September of this year, I should
be glad to have your decision by telegraph.

LIEUTENANT COLONEL L.C.M.S. AMERY, M.P.,
