I have, etc., to ack. the
receipt of your Confidential (2)

despatch of the 30th December 1926,
statiment enclosing a draft my prepared by
the Attorney-General in answer to
certain enquiries made by the French
Consul at Hong Kong concerning the
legal status of British subjects of
Chinese race. I have to express my
regret at the delay in answering
your despatch which has arisen from
the necessity of consulting other
Departments of H..G. in the matter.
