Sir,
I am directed by the lords Commissioners of
His Majesty's Treasury to refer to Sir G. Grindle's
30071/27. not letter of the 8th April last enclosing a copy of a no despatch from the Governor of Hong Kong forwarding
copies of a proposed Bill intituled an Ordinance to
consolidate and amend the Hong Kong and Shanghai
Rank Ordinance, 1866 and 1924.
The Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's
Treasury have consulted the Board of Trade on this
matter, and I am to enclose herewith for the
information of Mr. Secretary Amery, a copy of a
letter received from that Department.
My Lords entirely agree with the views of the
Roard of Trade and I am accordingly to suggest that
approval should be withheld to the introduction of
the draft Ordinance in its present form. They would
be glad to have an opportunity of considering any
