VII.- LEAVE.
B.- European Officers.
(iii) Half Pay Leave.
134. Subject to the exigencies of the service leave of
absence on half pay may be granted without any special grounds after three years' resident service. It may be given after a less duration of service in cases of serious indisposition, or of urgent private affairs, if the Governor is satisfied that the indulgence is indispensable. In cases of urgent private affairs the nature of such urgent affairs
must be stated confidentially to the Governor.

VIII. PASSAGES.
A.- European Officers.
149 (1) After a period of four years' resident service an officer will, if proceeding on leave be granted a return passage, or, if retiring on pension, a single passage to his port of destination in the United Kingdom; provided that in the latter case he sails within six months from the date of ceasing to perform the duties of his office.
(2) If before he has completed four years' resident service, an officer is permitted to go on leave or to retire on pension, the Goverment will contribute the proportion of the cost of his return or single passage which the period of resident service bears to four years. This rule may be relaxed in the case of an officer who is permitted to take leave or retire on pension on the ground of ill-
health, or who is required to take leave at a particular
time to suit the convenience of Government.
