We have now had a telegram from
Hong Kong in which Clementi says that he
has no ground for suspecting that
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
SIR JOHN ANDERSON, G.C.B.
Nemazee has resumed his connection with
the illicit traffic in opium. At the
same time it is only right to say that
Clementi says that Nemazee is understood
to be in financial difficulties and that
he cannot express any opinion regarding
his future movements.
I have discussed the matter
with my Secretary of State, who has asked
me to say that in view of Clementi
having no ground to suspect Nemazee he
