dated 2nd June 1927.

In continuation of my letter quoted above, I am

directed to say that the Government of India have permitted

the transhipment at Bombay of 5 chests of Persian opium to

French Indo-China, via Singapore by Messrs. Mackinnon

Mackenzie & Co. The consignment arrived in Bombay on the

21st May 1927.

the Right Hon'ble the Secretary of State for India, a copy

of the import certificate covering the consignment and

purporting to be signed by the Governor General of Indo-

China and countersigned by the Superintendent Singapore.

It will be observed that the Government of French Indo-

China have employed the services of Mr. A. Namazie for the

supply of the opium. The Government of India suspect

that he is connected with the firm of M. G. Nemazie

notorious for its illicit opium traffic.

It will no doubt

be considered whether it is advisable to convey any warning

about this person's antecedents to the French Government

through the Foreign Office.
