sir,

With reference to your despatch No.14 (7 4606/38/87)

dated the 23rd May 1927, I have the honour to state

that Mr. Vice-Censul Gardener, upon whese authority my state- ment regarding the alleged complicity of Mr.K.A.Hemazee

of Singapore in the illicit opium trade was made, is now on leave. On his return I will submit a further report.

In the meantims it appears to me more than probable that Mr. Gardener in his report has confused Mr.M.A. Nemazee of Singapore with the son of Haji Mohammed Hassan Nemazee of Hong Kong.

I have, etc.,

(Sd) L.Haworth. Id eut. Col.

Political Resident in the Persian Gulf and

Consul-General for Fars, Khuzistan etc.

To

His Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs,
