THE SITUATION IN CHINA.

REPORT BY THE COMMITTEE OF CHIEFS OF STAFF.

Note by the Secretary.

In accordance with the instructions of the Prime

Minister, and at the request of the Secretary of State

for Foreign Affairs, the Chiefs of Staff of the three

Fighting Services met on Tuesday, January 11th, 1927,

to examine the situation in China in the light of recent

events. The attached Report has been prepared as the

result of this meeting, and has received the general

approval of the Chiefs of Staff.

In view, however, of the short time available for its

preparation, the Chiefs of Staff reserve the right to

make alterations of detail before formally appending

their signatures.
