that part of the aerodrome site which must be filled
in. Balance of the site includes basin for
typhoon shelter (see enclosure in my separate de spatch of 28th March) and until this is settled the amount
of material required cannot be ascertained. As
regards details of further dredging see Admiralty
Chart No. 1466. Proposed channel approximately 6,500 feet long would be dredged in straight line in
South Easterly direction commencing from point 2,500 feet
south by west of the most westerly hill (231 feet high)
on Stonecutters Island to a point due south of and
distant 6,000 feet from White Point, Stonecutters Island.
South westerly direction in my telegram of 5th March should
read South easterly. Nature of the material to be
dredged expected to be chiefly silt and mud.
Direction of proposed channel is in line with general
flow of the tide and it may be expected to maintain
it self.
