(6) The traffic in opium in dacao is governed by

the ordinances of February 16th, 1846, of July 1851, of

November 27th, 1915, (NO. 268 published in Boletim oficial

No. 49, of 4.12.15), of September 18th, 1917, (No. 140

published in the supplement to Boletim oficial No. 37 of the

same date), of March 10th, 1923, (No. 48 published in

supplement No.3 of Supplement No. 10 of the Boletim oficial

of 15.3.23), of February 9th, 1923, (Boletim oficial No. 6

of 10.2.23) of March 10th 1923 (No. 49, Supplement 3 of

Boletim oficial No. 10 of 15.3.23), Colonial Law 10 of April

13th,1923, published in the Boletim Oficial No. 16 of April

21st, 1923.

(7) The Goverment of the Colony reserves the

right to restrict the import or export of raw opium in the

Colony. The restrictions laid down under the farming out

contract are given below.

Import and export remain under the terms of the

contract the monopoly of the concessionaire.

The consumption, sale and export of raw opium are

prohibited in Macao, except under Government permit.

Raw opium may only be imported in cases and all

lesser units are prohibited.

Imports rust first be authorised by the Superintend-

ent, and unloading must always take place in the presence of

duly appointed Treasury officials. The operation must be

effected entirely in an inner port. The captain of a vessel

carrying opium is guilty of a criminal offence, if he permita

the removal of opium from the vessel in the absence of the

police. The captain is bound to inform the authorities,

within four hours of his arrival, of the quantity of

opium/
