Sir,
In continuation of my confidential despatch
of the 22nd July, 1927, relating to the sale of ten
chests of raw Indian opium to the Macao Government to
assist it in the inauguration of its official control,
I have the honour to confirm my telegram of the 15th
August, 1927, reporting that in response to an urgent appeal from the Governor of Macao I have sanctioned
the sale of four more chests to that Government.
Enclos.Nos. 1 & 2-Copy of the Governor's letter is enclosed together
with my reply thereto.
I have informed the Portuguese Consul-
General that I can make no further sale of opium to
Macao unless the Government of India will agree to
make good to Hong Kong the amount thus sold.
