recently
apart from the small quantities which have been
supplied to Macao on the special authority
given from here, there is no question of Hong
Kong buying opium for re-export. I gathered
that the India Office would not expect a reply
to No.65.
(In this connection it is interesting to
note from the Report for 1926, which has just
been received 30210/27 Hong Kong that it
appears that in that year Hong Kong imported
165 chests and boiled 128 chests of Indian
opium, leaving a surplus of only 36% chests,
which is very far short of the 10 chests a month
referred to in this correspondence.)
