With reference to your letter of 19th March 1925,
11945/25 instructing us to set aside in a separate account 11945/25
a sum of £250,000 in respect of the contribution made by the
Government of Hong Kong towards the cost of the Singapore
Naval Base, and to subsequent correspondence culminating in
your letter of 14th March in which you ask us to pay to the
Admiralty the final instalment of £20,000 of the above
contribution, I have the honcur to inform you that this
payment was made on the 18th March in accordance with your
instructions.

There is, however, still a balance of £14617. 0. 6.
remaining in the special account which represents interest
earned on the capital sum since it was set aside, and I have
to ask that we may receive the instructions of the Secretary
of State with regard to the disposal of this sum.
