Enclosure No.1 to letter from Commodore

Sir,

I am to refer to the taking up and chartering of the S.S."TUNG ON" during the period 9th July until 24th July, 1925, and to inform you that the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have acquainted the Commodore that all expenses arising from the taking up of the S.S."TUNG ON" in addition to one-half the cost of the Naval Officers and men prior to 25th July 1925, are to be debited against the Hongkong Government.

A claim has accordingly been prepared and is

attached hereto.

In preparing this statement no charge has been made for permanent stores issued, these being transferred to the accounts of "TUNG ON" after 24th July, 1925. In the case of consumable stores issued during the period in question, it is considered 25% were transferred to the accounts after 24th July 1925, and consequently only 75% of their value has been included, together with 50% of the wages, allowances, and victualling of the Officers and men. The charges for coal have already been settled.

It is therefore requested that the sum of £205.104 at the current rate of exchange, viz., 2s.2 d. being $1843.89 cts. may be remitted to the Cashier, H.M.Dockyard, Hong Kong in settlement.
