I have the honour to enclose herewith copies of
correspondence between he Commissioner for Foreign
Affairs and myself relative to the conduct of the local
police in respect of a robbery in August last from the
house of Mr. Teo Yee free, a British subject.

Briefly, the circumstances were as follows. In
the early morning of August 8, Mr. Teo Yee Swee's nouse
was raided by a gang of robbers, who ransacked the build-
ing and stole articles valued at some „2,400. By when
the police appeared on the scene, the robbers nad decamp-
ed and the police arrested Teo Yee Dwee himself and all
his servants and led them, bound like criminals to the
police station, where Teo was further insulted by having
his feet chained together. He was not released to 3.0
p.m.

The police not only ill-treated Teo, but stole
from his house the following articles:
2 12 bore shot guns
300 - 400 cartridges for above

old-fashioned revolvers, no cartridges, sportin knife
1 gmall Browning pistol
25 rounds of ammunition for above accessories for loading cartridges 2 or 2 bunones of keys.
