added .........confined to Hong Kong, and a person

Imperially naturalised in Hong Kong possesses all the

rights and privileges derived from his status as such

throughout the apire, except in those Dominions which

have not adopted Part II of the British Nationality

and Status of Aliens Act 1914".

3. I have considered whether it would be desir-

able to insert in the draft reply a reference to the position in China of persons of dual nationality,

British and Chinese, but I have decided not to do so

in as much as the question is one of great difficulty, and moreover does not appear to be cognate to the general purpose of the French Consul's enquiries.

4. I have to request that you will now reply to the French Consul in the terms of the draft originally submitted with the amendaents sugested abovs, and inform me when you have done so.
