Enclosure No. 1 in Swatow No. 27 of June 29, 1927.
H. M. Consul, Swatow,
to
Commissioner for Foreign Affairs.
Translation.
Swatow, June 10, 1927.

Sir,
I have the honour to inform you that Low Han-sh'u,
son of Low Peng Kiah, a British subject, has reported to me
that a few hours ago several detectives in the employ of
the Opium Suppression Bureau, accompanied by police, rushed
into his father's house, seized him and carried him off to
the Branch office of the Bureau.
This action constitutes a gross breach of Treaty
stipulations and I must request that Low Peng Kiah be
released instantly, no matter for what reason he has been
arrested, and that any further proceedings may be conducted
strictly accordingly to Treaty.
